Day 01: Kigali

Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, embark on a city tour of Kigali, including a visit to the Genocide Memorial Center, where you can learn about Rwanda’s tragic past and pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel for the night.

Day 02: Akagera National Park

After breakfast, depart Kigali and drive to Akagera National Park, located in the eastern part of Rwanda. The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, and more. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive to explore the park’s diverse landscape and wildlife. As you drive through the park, keep an eye out for the animals that call this area home, and take in the beautiful scenery that surrounds you. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and a well-deserved rest.

Day 03: Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, depart for Volcanoes National Park. On the way, stop at a nearby community to learn about the local culture and way of life. Interact with community members, participate in traditional activities, and enjoy a home-cooked meal with your hosts. After the community visit, continue to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund’s Karisoke Research Center, where you will learn about Dian Fossey’s groundbreaking research on mountain gorillas and the work being done to protect them. After the visit, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 04: Volcanoes National Park

Wake up early this morning for the highlight of your trip: gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After a briefing with your guide, you will hike through the forest to track and observe one of the habituated gorilla families. This experience is truly unforgettable, as you get up close and personal with these gentle giants and witness their playful behavior and familial bonds. After spending an hour with the gorillas, hike back to the base camp for a late breakfast and a certificate of participation. In the afternoon, return to Kigali for your departure flight or continue your travels in Rwanda.
